Director of Children, Youth & Family Ministries (20 Hours/Week)

Elk River United Methodist Church is a multi-generational congregation located in a growing community between Minneapolis and St. Cloud. Our mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world by growing in love of God and neighbor, reaching new people, and healing a broken world.

We are seeking a Director of Children, Youth & Family Ministries who has a vibrant Christian faith and a passion for helping children, youth, and families grow as disciples of Jesus Christ. This individual will provide vision, leadership, and organization for our ministries while working closely with church staff, volunteers, and families.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Build meaningful relationships with children, youth, parents, and the congregation.

  • Coordinate and oversee Sunday School, Wednesday evening ministries, Vacation Bible School, summer programs, youth activities, and Confirmation support.

  • Recruit, train, and encourage volunteers and ministry leaders.

  • Lead the Children, Youth & Family Ministry Team.

  • Help plan outreach opportunities that connect with our community.

  • Communicate ministry activities through newsletters, social media, and other church communications.

  • Ensure Safe Sanctuary policies are implemented and followed.

  • Participate in staff meetings and collaborate with church leadership.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will:

  • Demonstrate a vibrant Christian faith (United Methodist experience is a plus).

  • Have experience in children, youth, and family ministry or a related field.

  • Be an effective leader, communicator, and team player.

  • Possess strong organizational and planning skills.

  • Have knowledge of child development and today's youth culture.

  • Hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (related field preferred).

  • Complete a background check and Safe Gatherings training (CPR and First Aid certification are a plus).

Schedule

This is a 20-hour-per-week position with flexible scheduling, including regular Sunday morning and Wednesday evening responsibilities. Pay: $20-22 per hour, DOE.

Communications Specialist (8-10 Hours/Week)

Elk River United Methodist Church is a multi-generational congregation located in a growing community between Minneapolis and St. Cloud. Our mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world by growing in love of God and neighbor, reaching new people, and healing a broken world.

We are seeking a Communications Specialist who will work alongside the leadership of Elk River United Methodist Church to create a unified media strategy and help effectively communicate the life and ministry of ERUMC. This individual will oversee the church’s website, digital communications, social media, and visual branding while collaborating with Pastor, staff, volunteers, and key lay leaders.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Update and maintain ERUMC’s website as a landing page for information about church happenings and the Sunday morning livestream.

  • Work alongside staff and volunteers to create the slide deck for Sunday morning worship.

  • Collaborate with staff and the Pastor to provide oversight of ERUMC’s visual branding.

  • Oversee ERUMC’s social media presence, currently Facebook, with the potential to expand to additional platforms.

  • Create the weekly ERUMC newsletter and oversee other communication strategies.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will:

  • Demonstrate a vibrant progressive Christian faith (United Methodist experience is a plus).

  • Be familiar with, or willing to learn, platforms and software including Facebook, Squarespace, Canva, and others.

  • Be self-directed and able to function as a team player.

  • Possess excellent organizational, planning, goal-setting, and time-management skills.

  • Have the creative ability to envision, plan, and follow through on assigned tasks.

  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.

Schedule

This is an 8-10-hour-per-week position. Pay: $20-22 per hour.
